6 days Marangu Route is the most popular, least difficult, and the shortest way to Uhuru Peak than Rongai Route. This route is also called the Tourist Route or the Coca Cola Route. 70% of all climbers choose this route because most of the route consists of easy hiking. This route is fairly easy but the final part to the summit is still difficult. Although this route is the easiest, it has the highest failure rate due to bad preparation. It is advised to take this route seriously enough, to be well organized, and to take all possible safety measures.
6 Days Marangu Route the oldest route on Mount Kilimanjaro, the Marangu Route, is also known as the Tourist Route / Coca Cola Route. And you may have heard that of all routes up Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Marangu route is the easiest, cheapest and by far the most popular.
All the camps on this route sell goods such as chocolates, beer, soft drinks, and mineral water, and they all have radio contact to the Park Office. This route can be done in 5 days but it is advised to take an extra day for acclimatization at the Horombo hut which is also the only campsite on Kilimanjaro with beds and mattresses.
Arrive in Arusha or Moshi, meet your guide, and gear up for adventure. Take a scenic drive to Marangu Gate and begin your rainforest trek, reaching cozy Mandara Hut for your first night under Kilimanjaro’s watchful gaze.
Climb through the moorland, where the air thins and views thicken. Reach Horombo Hut, your base camp for the next two days, and marvel at the majestic panorama that unfolds.
Acclimatization day! Rest and refuel, or take a short hike to Mawenzi base camp for a taste of higher altitudes. Remember, slow and steady wins the Kilimanjaro race.
Push into the semi-desert zone, where volcanic landscapes and thin air test your mettle. Reach Kibo Hut, your final stop before the summit push. Sleep tight, the stars above are closer than you think.
Rise with the sun and embark on the early morning climb to Uhuru Peak. Brace yourself for challenging terrain and thin air, but remember, the reward is the roof of Africa! Celebrate your victory at the summit and descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
